How to use Hammerite Prosto Na Rdzę / Direct to Rust?

How is Hammerite applied to rust covered metal surfaces?

The formula of Hammerite paint has been specifically formulated to be applied directly to rust covered metal with minimal surface preparation.

surface preparation

  1. Remove loose rust with a wire brush or coarse sandpaper. You don't need to clean the surface of any rust or sand it to pure metal.
  2. Clean the surface with water and a detergent (dishwashing liquid). For previously unpainted or heavily soiled surfaces, use Hammerite Solvent.
  3. Rinse with water and let dry.

painting

Paint the prepared surface directly with Hammerite paint. Thanks to the 3-in-1 formula, you don't need to use primer or primer.

  1. Open a can of Hammerite paint.
  2. Stir the contents slowly and thoroughly. Remember – do not dilute the paint!
  3. Apply a thick layer of paint, carefully covering all edges and corners.
  4. After 6 hours apply a second thick coat of paint in the same way.

For glossy, matt and semi-matt surfaces it is recommended to use a brush or roller. Hammerite in hammer finish should be applied with a brush.
